Memorandum Monday

Waving to you all on this sunny Monday morning and hoping you're all well.

My 'something new' for this week thankfully arrived in my inbox this morning.  Thankfully, because without this, I wouldn't have had anything to write about!  I signed up for a course with FutureLearn a few week ago, and today is day one of my chosen course - 'Genealogy: Researching Your Family Tree'.  It's a 6 week free online course run by the Centre for Lifelong Learning's Postgraduate Programme in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies at the University of Strathclyde.

I've already done a lot of research on my family tree but I'm stuck with two particular lines and don't seem to be able to make any progress with them so, apart from having a genuine interest in the subject matter, I'm hoping that this course will help me discover new ways of researching and also to give me a better understanding of the types of documents I am already familiar with.

I've done one of the FutureLearn courses before and was comfortable with the pace of learning - there's no pressure to meet deadlines, although you do miss out on joining in with the online discussions if you fall behind.  I've also signed up for two more courses, starting in May (I think); both shorter 3 week courses - one on nutrition and one on solving number problems.

I hope you all have a lovely week with lots of interesting things planned.  Thanks to Sian for organising this weekly link up.
