Panic! At The Disco's "Victorious" - Single Review

American rock band Panic! At The Disco may only be two members strong at the moment, but that doesn't keep them for pushing forward with successful end results. After promoting their number two-peaking Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!, the band quickly released the joyous "Hallelujah", their second highest peaking single to date, and "Death of a Bachelor", both presumed to be featured on the band's upcoming fifth studio album.

In continuing with the promotion of untitled studio album number five, Panic! At The Disco unexpectedly released a new taste of the anticipated next project, the intense and passionate "Victorious", which found itself sitting at the top of the iTunes charts shortly upon release. With an underlying message of lead singer Brendon Urie's inability to be an athlete, the new single becomes a loud, aggressive rock anthem as opposed to their softer previous efforts.

"Victorious" wastes absolutely no time in cranking up the volume and energy as heavy guitars and percussion assist in the exciting, head-banging production. Urie's vocal performance comes off with a sense of urgency, still able to immediately command attention even after a decade on the music scene. It is actually the lead singer's impressive delivery along with a chant worthy, catchy chorus that will help the new single dominate the rock radio airwaves in the weeks to come.

The initial inspiration for the song may have been Urie's past experiences of being picked last for childhood games, but the band's latest release works to inspire listeners to let loose and paint the town red. "Oh we gotta turn up the crazy, livin' like a washed up celebrity, shooting fireworks like it's the Fourth of July, until we feel alright," Urie belts on a hook perfect for the weekend festivities.

Panic! At The Disco have been reinventing their sound with every new album, but with "Victorious" it sounds as if the ever-evolving band is actually going back to their roots in a way. Clocking in at under three minutes, and filled with initially confusing lyrical content that can be perceived in numerous way, the new single is carried to thrilling heights with a carefree message of reckless partying and radio-friendly production that should create positive buzz for future projects from the band.

Does the new "Victorious" please hardcore Panic! At The Disco fanatic or is it a harmless, unmemorable release?
