STYLEZONE FOCUS: JULIA BRAHAM & APRI ACCESSORIEZ

Welcome to the very first edition of  'STYLEZONE FOCUS' with JB!...

Anywho!, as often as possible I'm going to highlight Jamaican artistes, personalities or just basically anybody in the entertainment industry who I think has a great sense of style or swagggg and conduct a mini interview to find out what their style is all about. So I'm reeeeally excited to go down this path and even more excited about my first feature on 26 year old director, Julia Braham, who just happened to open an accessory store called 'Apri' in December 2009, so it makes this feature even that more special! I've always been impressed with her being one of the few female directors in the industry as well as her unique style so I thought it would be an interesting feature for my first stylezone focus post.

Julia has been directing music videos for about 6 years now for about everyone in the industry, as she puts it, "who haven't I worked with..." . Jamaican artistes such as, Sean Paul, Mavado, D'Angel, Serani, Bounty Killa and Beenie Man, are just a few on the list for whom she has directed videos.

I met with Julia at her store recently and got way more than I bargained for. As I walked in I noticed that she was making these hot feather earrings that I've noticed her wearing before. Little did I know they were her very own creation. Her store, 'Apri' also carries her own line of accessories.

Check them out below....

The earrings are apart of her line of custom made accessories, she plans to try out other material as well. What I LOVE  is how reasonably priced everything in her store is. I love a good deal and with everyone watching their pocket its good to know you can still get cute stuff at a great price. The custom made earrings usually run from J$1800-$3500.

The earrings are in fun summer colors but for us Jamaicans its summer all year round basically ,despite the Christmas breeze we get later in the year, so I must apologise to all my readers that are bracing themselves for the fall weather, but any one of these earrings with a leopard print suit, similar to this one from ASOS are sure to turn heads on the beach.

Or if you want to take them out at night, pair with a jumpsuit, like one in this nude tone, which is hot right now, anything camel colored or close to it is a color you NEED to have in your closet for this fall season. This is also available at http://www.asos.com/ and is similar to Nicki Minaj's jumpsuit from this year's VMA's.

BUT not to stray!! I have lots more to show you from APRI :)

I'm big on chunky jewellery so I was especially in love with the chunky necklaces, cuffs and bangles that I found at the store, ranging from $1200-$3200

With the Christmas party season coming up there will be tons of chances for you to get really girly and nothing says girly like a cute feathered headpiece right??? Headbands or hair clips never really go out of style so stock up on some, its not 'HEAD' but I thought they were too cute not to share!....

These jewelled clip on earrings also add a great touch to any outfit whether you're going for a more relaxed look or pair with a sexy dress for a night out on the town.

Julia Braham
When I asked Julia to describe her style, she expressed the need to just be comfortable in whatever she was wearing, not one to wear something just because its "trendy"..."I wear what works for me", Julia expressed.

Her favorite accessories are earrings, she confesses that she will never leave the house without a pair of earrings in, or wearing eyeliner...however, a handbag she will do without, "I'm not a girly girl", she says.
When asked what trend she hated that was popular now on  men, she didn't hesitate to say  "nerd glasses, hate them", when asked about ladies she expressed again how important it is to just wear what works for you and not to get caught up in trends with the risk of looking dumb...
"Be honest to yourself!", wise words from Julia braham lol, I couldn't have said it better!

Apri is located at shop#3 in Princeville Plaza on Constant Spring Rd. open Mon&Tues(11-6) and Wed-Sat(10-7). JB endorsed!
