SPRING HILL, Fla. — A 24-year-old man in Hernando County was arrested Wednesday for stealing two pairs of women's shoes from a Kohls where he had just interviewed for a job.
He didn't get the position and now deputies say Dominick Breedlove is facing charges for retail theft.
Breedlove didn't know he was being monitored by a loss prevention employee while he searched through the shoes, scouring for missing security tags deputies say.
Then he went to his car to get a Kohls bag he has from a previous shopping trip. When he came back inside, deputies say he put two pairs of shoes in the bag — a pair of women's Nike Air Bella TR shoes, valued at $80, and a pair of women's Nike Elite TR shoes, valued at $70.
He later told deputies he was planning on giving the shoes to his mother as a gift.
Breedlove walked outside of the store with the stolen shoes, authorities say, making no attempt to pay for them. But deputies were waiting for him.
He was arrested and taken to the Hernando County Detention Center.
